DAVID HILL FROM BRISTOL JAILED IN TURKEY FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST BOY
In a case that spans continents and decades, David Hill, a man originally from Bristol, has been sentenced to over six years in prison after being convicted of historic sexual offences committed against a young boy.The case highlights the persistent efforts of law enforcement agencies across the globe to bring justice to victims of abuse, regardless of the offender's attempts to evade capture.
Hill, who is 75 years old, managed to escape justice for more than six years after fleeing England before his trial at Bristol Crown Court in 2012.
He had initially admitted to three counts of indecent assault, but during the trial, which was held in his absence, he was found guilty of an additional three counts of indecent assault along with three counts of gross indecency.
These convictions relate to offences committed against a boy during the 1980s, a period during which the abuse took place.

Their efforts bore fruit in September 2016 when he was finally found residing in the Aydın province of Turkey.
Turkish law enforcement officials arrested him, and subsequent extradition proceedings were initiated to bring him back to the UK.
This week, Avon and Somerset police successfully extradited Hill from Turkey, where he had been living openly for several years.
Hill was then brought before Bristol Crown Court, where he appeared on Wednesday.
The judge sentenced him to six years and three months in prison, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice for his victims.

His ability to blend into the local scene and maintain a low profile for years underscores the challenges law enforcement agencies face in tracking down offenders who flee their home countries to evade justice.
