DAVID HANSON'S SHOCKING COLLAPSE IN NEWCASTLE DURING PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS CONFRONTATION
In a dramatic and unsettling incident in Newcastle, David Hanson, a 45-year-old man from Benwell, experienced a sudden and visible collapse when confronted by vigilant paedophile hunters.The confrontation took place as Hanson was waiting to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old girl, but was actually an undercover member of the Dark Justice group.
Hanson had engaged in an extensive online communication with the fake profile, exchanging over 750 WhatsApp messages with the supposed teenage girl before he arrived at the designated meeting point near Newcastle’s Centre for Life.
During this period, he carried a rucksack containing personal items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, and condoms, indicating his intentions for the meeting.
When confronted by the group, Hanson’s reaction was startling.
He suddenly fell to the ground, visibly shocked and overwhelmed by the situation.
Remarkably, he then expressed support for the paedophile hunters’ cause, claiming he was “100 per cent behind” their efforts and even asked if he could join their group.
Hanson’s actions and subsequent court proceedings reveal a disturbing pattern.
Prosecutor Anne Richardson told Newcastle Crown Court that Hanson had initially contacted a fake profile on the dating site Badoo, posing as an 18-year-old girl named Amanda.
The Dark Justice group, masquerading as Amanda, later informed Hanson that she had lied about her age and was actually 14 years old.
Despite this revelation, Hanson continued to pursue the interaction, requesting her mobile phone number and engaging in increasingly sexual conversations.
His messages included phrases such as “Good baby no sex until know each other better” and “I touch u and u touch me if ur ready,” indicating his intent to meet for sexual activity.
Hanson’s confrontation occurred on July 21 of the previous year, just four days after the initial messages.
The court heard that Hanson’s persistence did not waver even after being warned of the risks.
His reaction upon being confronted was one of shock, and it was noted that he appeared to have led a lonely and isolated life since the incident, having lost his job and his home.
The court observed that Hanson was clearly ashamed of his actions.
Following his guilty plea to attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, Hanson was sentenced to a three-year community order.
Additionally, he was subjected to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, aimed at restricting his future conduct and protecting potential victims from similar offenses.
