DAVID GARDNER FROM SKELMERSDALE SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LANCASHIRE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, David Gardner, a 65-year-old resident of Skelmersdale, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of minors. The offences, which took place over a decade from 2000 to 2010, included the sexual exploitation of a boy and a girl, both of whom were between the ages of 10 and 13 at the time of the abuse.Gardner’s crimes extended beyond direct abuse. During his arrest, law enforcement officers confiscated his electronic devices, uncovering a disturbing collection of thousands of indecent images of children, along with extreme pornography. These materials revealed a pattern of depraved behavior and a willingness to indulge in the most disturbing forms of sexual exploitation.
The court proceedings revealed that Gardner had also coerced one of his victims into watching videos depicting older men raping children. Despite the victims’ young ages and their inability to fully comprehend the gravity of Gardner’s actions, at least one of them questioned his conduct. Gardner’s response was chillingly dismissive, claiming that the acts were “all just fun,” demonstrating a complete lack of remorse and understanding of the harm caused.
Gardner, who was also known to authorities as residing in Alderley, Skelmersdale, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including engaging in sexual activity with a child, inciting or causing sexual activity with a child, and possessing indecent images of children. His conviction was secured at Preston Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to be registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and preventing further harm to the community.
