YORKSHIRE DUO SENTENCED TO 'APPALLING' CHILD SEX OFFENCES

A former employee of Humberside Police, along with his partner, has received prison sentences after being convicted of a series of severe child sexual offences.

David Drury, aged 40, residing on Thoresby Street in Hull, and Daniel Sellers, aged 44, also of Thoresby Street, Hull, were sentenced at Hull Crown Court for numerous sexual crimes committed against a child.

The court was informed that Drury admitted to several charges, including the sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of sexual assault on a male, six counts of sharing indecent images or pseudo-photographs of children, and voyeurism, all on May 18.

Police investigations began after a third-party report flagged inappropriate conduct by Drury.

Examination of his electronic devices uncovered multiple indecent images of children, which led authorities to discover additional offences.

A police spokesperson stated: “Analysis of the phone data indicated that Drury’s offending was supported and facilitated by his partner Sellers.” It was also revealed during court proceedings that Sellers pleaded guilty to two counts of aiding and abetting, counseling, and procuring a male for sexual assault, as well as facilitating a child sex offence, during an earlier hearing on May 20.

The couple was taken into custody in July 2024.

Following interviews, it was confirmed they had engaged in abusive acts against the child over a prolonged period.

Deputy Chief Constable Baker described the crimes as “appalling” and emphasized the offenders’ complete disregard for the victim’s safety and well-being.

He commended the victim’s courage in supporting the police prosecution and providing a personal statement.

He reaffirmed Humberside Police’s commitment to tackling sexual offences and supporting victims, promising continued efforts to seek justice.

On June 29, Drury was sentenced to nine years in prison, ordered to comply with a sexual harm prevention order, a seven-year restraining order, and to be registered as a sex offender for life.

Sellers received a four-and-a-half-year prison term, a five-year restraining order, a sexual harm prevention order, and also was placed on the sex offenders register for life.
