YORKSHIRE DUO SENTENCED TO 'APPALLING' CHILD SEX OFFENCES

A man previously employed by Humberside Police and his partner have been sentenced after being found guilty of a series of heinous child sex offences.

David Drury, 40, of Thoresby Street, Hull, and his partner Daniel Sellers, 44, also of the same street, appeared before Hull Crown Court where they received sentences for multiple sexual crimes involving a minor.

The case was brought to light after Drury admitted to various charges on May 18, including sexually assaulting a child under 13, assaulting a male on two occasions, distributing six indecent images or pseudo-photographs of minors, and committing acts of voyeurism.

An investigation was launched by Humberside Police following a report from a third party revealing troubling behaviour.

Authorities examined Drury’s digital devices and uncovered numerous indecent images of children, which led to the discovery of additional offences.

A police representative noted, “The analysis of the phone data demonstrated that his partner Sellers played a role in aiding and supporting the offences.” Sellers had previously pleaded guilty on May 20 to two counts involving assisting and encouraging sexual assault on a male, as well as coordinating the commission of a child sex offence.

Both suspects were arrested in July 2024 and interviewed by police.

Evidence showed the crimes against the child spanned over an extended period.

Deputy Chief Constable Baker described the offences as “disturbingly severe,” highlighting the impact on the victim and the lack of regard for their welfare.

He commended the victim’s bravery in cooperating with authorities and providing a personal statement.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to tackling sexual crimes and delivering justice.

At the sentencing held on June 29, Drury was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment, along with additional legal restrictions including a sexual harm prevention order, a seven-year restraining order, and lifelong inclusion on the sex offenders register.

Sellers received a sentence of four and a half years, a five-year restraining order, a sexual harm prevention order, and lifelong sex offender registration.
