DANGEROUS PAEDOPHILE DAVID DODSON SENTENCED IN HULL FOR ABUSE OF CHILDREN
In November 2011, a disturbing case unfolded in East Hull involving David Dodson, a 61-year-old man whose actions have left a lasting scar on the lives of young children and their families.Dodson was convicted of multiple serious charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors and subsequently sentenced to three years in prison.
The court proceedings revealed that Dodson, residing on Falkland Road in East Hull, was found guilty of four counts of causing or encouraging a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Additionally, he faced two charges of sexual assault.
Despite these convictions, the jury acquitted him of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
The offenses in question occurred over a period spanning from November 2006 to May 2008, highlighting a prolonged pattern of abuse.
Following the sentencing at Hull Crown Court, the mother of one of Dodson’s victims expressed her anguish and frustration.
She publicly stated her desire for Dodson’s face to be widely recognized, emphasizing the danger he poses.
“I want his face to be in the paper and I want people to look at it and remember who he is,” she declared.
She described Dodson as a threat to society, asserting that his actions have devastated her family’s life.
She further detailed the profound impact on her son, explaining that the young boy’s confidence has been shattered.
“He is too frightened to sleep.
He won’t go to the loo on his own,” she said, revealing the deep psychological scars inflicted by Dodson’s abuse.
The mother expressed her confusion and anger, questioning why someone would commit such acts against innocent children.
Her account took a personal turn when she recounted how her son confided in her after they encountered Dodson in a local supermarket.
“He just went white and I knew there was something wrong,” she recalled.
Her son, overwhelmed with fear, asked her if he would be in trouble for telling her the truth.
“He said he was worried he would be grounded because that was what Dodson had told him,” she explained.
This revelation marked a turning point in their journey toward justice, taking years of effort and emotional struggle to reach this point.
While the mother expressed some disappointment with the length of Dodson’s sentence, she also conveyed a sense of relief that he was now behind bars.
“He should have got a longer sentence, but I am just glad he went down,” she said.
“He thought he would walk and that would have been wrong,” she added, underscoring her relief that justice was ultimately served in this case.
