DAVE CHERRINGTON JAILED IN HULL FOR RAPE OF VULNERABLE BOY

Despite denying the charges, Cherrington, 38, of Holderness Road in east Hull, was found guilty by a jury after a trial at Hull Crown Court.

During the court proceedings, Judge Kate Rayfield acknowledged the profound emotional toll the sexual abuse had taken on the victim.
She explained that at the time of the assault, the victim was extremely vulnerable, and Cherrington had taken advantage of this vulnerability by overpowering and raping him.
The judge pointed out that Cherrington denied any sexual activity, but the evidence proved otherwise.
The victim had attempted to block out the traumatic event, but the police investigation brought the incident back into focus, revealing the extent of the harm inflicted.
Judge Rayfield described how the victim was deeply affected by the assault, suffering from ongoing flashbacks, feelings of anger, and difficulty trusting others.
She noted that the victim had no prior convictions before this offence but had accumulated others afterward, indicating a pattern of concerning behavior.
Cherrington was sentenced to four years in prison for his crime.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely and was subjected to an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim from any further contact.
