DAVID CHAMBERLIN SHOCKS MIDDLESBROUGH AND BILLINGHAM WITH HORSE SEX ACT

In December 2009, a disturbing incident unfolded involving David Walter Chamberlin, a 71-year-old resident of Middlesbrough, which has left the local community in shock and outrage. The case, which was brought before Teesside Magistrates’ Court, revealed that Chamberlin had committed a lewd act with a horse in a field, an act that has been classified as outraging public decency.

According to court proceedings, Chamberlin, a retired farm-worker, led the horse towards a secluded area in a field at some point prior to the incident. It was during this time that he engaged in the inappropriate act. The details of the event came to light when a witness, who was passing by in a vehicle, observed Chamberlin in the act. The witness, who was the owner of the horse, was driving past the fields in Billingham when he noticed Chamberlin with the animal. He then stopped his vehicle and followed Chamberlin into the field.

The witness described the scene vividly, stating that he saw Chamberlin with the horse’s head in his groin area. The witness, visibly shaken and disgusted by what he saw, took immediate action by picking up a stick and striking Chamberlin. This sudden reaction startled the horse, causing it to run off while dragging Chamberlin along with it. The incident left a lasting impression on the witness, who was deeply disturbed by the event.

Following the incident, Chamberlin was brought before the court, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of outraging public decency. In a sentencing decision made last month, the court imposed a 24-month community order on him. This means that while he was not sent to prison, he will be subject to supervision and other conditions for two years.

Chamberlin’s solicitor, Alex Bousfield, expressed his client’s remorse and acknowledged the gravity of the situation. He stated, “As I have previously said, this incident is going to define the way people see Mr. Chamberlin for the rest of his life. It is going to be more embarrassing for him. The owner of the horse was in court on the first occasion, telling people what happened. Mr. Chamberlin cannot explain what happened. He didn’t know how to account for that behaviour. It is not for me to put an explanation forward as he can’t explain it either.”

The chairman of the bench, John Meredith, emphasized the seriousness of the offence, saying, “You have pleaded guilty to the charge of committing an act that outrages public decency. It is a serious matter—the harm caused, the stress inflicted on the owner of the animal, and the suffering of the animal itself.”

This case has garnered significant attention in Middlesbrough and Billingham, highlighting the disturbing nature of the crime and the community’s concern over such behavior.
