DAVID CHAMBERLAIN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR SICKENING ABUSE IN FILEY

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Filey, a man identified as David Peter Chamberlain, aged 37 and now residing in Selby, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 20 years for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against three young victims. The crimes, described by authorities as 'sickening,' involved the sexual abuse of two girls and one boy, with the incidents occurring over a span of two years.

Chamberlain’s criminal activities came to light after a teenage girl reported to North Yorkshire Police in July of the previous year that she had been subjected to sexual abuse by him between 2020 and 2022. This initial report prompted further investigations, which soon revealed that additional victims, a girl and a boy, had also been abused during the same period. The police, working diligently, conducted extensive inquiries through the Scarborough and Ryedale CID units, which ultimately led to the accumulation of substantial evidence against Chamberlain.

Following a comprehensive two-week trial at York Crown Court, the jury found Chamberlain guilty of 19 separate charges. These included five counts of rape, six counts of sexual assault, eight counts of sexual activity with a child, and one count of child cruelty. Despite the overwhelming evidence, Chamberlain was acquitted of one count of rape, but the remaining charges resulted in a conviction that reflects the severity of his crimes.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order on Chamberlain, restricting his future conduct and interactions. Furthermore, he will remain on the Register of Sex Offenders, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety. The sentencing underscores the gravity of the offenses and the commitment of the justice system to protect vulnerable children from predatory individuals like Chamberlain.
