DAVID BECK'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN HULL: SERIAL SEX OFFENDER CONVICTED OF MULTIPLE RAPE AND ASSAULT CHARGES

A notorious serial sex offender from Hull, David Beck, has been found guilty of multiple heinous crimes involving two women, including the rape of one victim.

The conviction comes after a lengthy and complex trial at Hull Crown Court, where the jury deliberated for over eight hours across two days before reaching their verdicts.

Beck, aged 30, residing on Nornabell Street off Holderness Road in east Hull, faced a total of ten sexual offence charges.

He vehemently denied all allegations, attempting to dismiss the accusations as falsehoods.

However, the jury convicted him of six counts, including two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration against one woman, and one count each of sexual assault and assault by penetration against the other woman.

The jury's decision on the two rape charges was unanimous, reflecting the strength of the evidence presented.

In contrast, three of the remaining convictions were decided by majority verdicts—either 10 to 2 or, in one case, 11 to 1—while Beck was acquitted of four charges, three of which involved the rape victim, including two counts of assault by penetration.

The other acquitted charge involved an allegation of sexual assault against the second woman.

The trial was a retrial, following an earlier trial last year that was halted due to the emergence of new evidence late in the proceedings.

Prosecutor Richard Butters emphasized the severity of Beck’s actions, stating that he sexually assaulted both women.

He highlighted Beck’s attempts to deny the allegations, asserting, “The defendant would say that these two women are liars from start to finish.” The first victim, who was raped, described her experience as “so hard to talk about” and “so painful,” underscoring the trauma she endured.

Mr.

Butters challenged the jury to consider whether her willingness to undergo the court process indicated she was lying, asking, “Would she put herself through the torture that she experienced in this trial if she was lying?” He stressed that the ordeal had been “traumatic” for her and that Beck’s actions had “ruined her life and violated her,” leaving her with lasting emotional scars.

The second woman, who also accused Beck of sexual assault, testified that she had “nothing to gain by lying” and confirmed that Beck’s actions had left her feeling “violated.” She described his conduct as “not right,” and her testimony reinforced the gravity of the allegations.

During the trial, the defense attempted to discredit the victims and witnesses, claiming they were part of a conspiracy to falsely accuse Beck.

Prosecutor Butters dismissed these claims as “absolute and utter nonsense,” asserting that everyone involved was lying and that such a conspiracy was “not plausible.” Beck himself took the stand in his defense, denying the allegations outright.

When questioned about the rape accusations, he responded, “It didn’t happen, no,” insisting that the charges were false.

He described feeling “disgusted” and “physically ill” upon hearing the allegations and claimed he had been attacked as a result, recounting an incident where he was allegedly beaten on his doorstep and had to run to his mother’s house for safety.

He also denied any sexual misconduct, stating, “That didn’t happen,” when asked about the sexual assault allegations.

Beck maintained that he would never harm a woman or act without her consent.

Following the guilty verdicts, Beck was visibly distressed, crying and putting his head in his hands.

He had been on bail during the trial but was remanded into custody immediately after the convictions.

Sentencing has been postponed until September to allow for a probation assessment to evaluate the potential risk he poses to others in the future.

Given the nature of his crimes, Beck faces a lengthy prison sentence, and the court’s decision will determine the severity of his punishment.
