DAVID BAILLIE FROM TROON FINED £2000 FOR EXTREME ANIMAL PORN IMAGES

In November 2016, a man from Troon faced legal action after being found in possession of highly disturbing and explicit images involving animals. David Baillie, who resides on Earn Road in Troon, was charged with possessing these 'extreme' images on July 3 of the same year. The authorities acted after executing a search warrant at his residence, uncovering material that depicted adult women engaged in sexual acts with dogs.

Baillie appeared before Sheriff John Montgomery at Ayr Sheriff Court last week to face the charges. During the hearing, the court was informed that police had obtained a warrant to search Baillie’s home, leading to the discovery of the illicit material. Depute Fiscal Scott Toal detailed the nature of the images, stating, “He had images of an indecent nature. There were pictures of adult females involving dogs. 36 of these were videos and 21 were still images. Mr Baillie was interviewed but made no admissions.”

Baillie’s legal representative, defence solicitor Robert Logan, addressed the court, emphasizing his client’s attitude towards the case. “He has been very accepting of the relevance of this matter and accepts his responsibility. He has worked since he left school,” Logan said. The solicitor also questioned the classification of the offence, asking Sheriff Montgomery, “Remind me why this is not a regulatory offence?” to which he responded, “It did not used to be an offence until 2004. I do not think they want to clutter up the register with people who should not be on it.”

Sheriff Montgomery expressed some surprise at the details, noting, “It seems strange. I see from the criminal justice social work report that while searching for adult pornographic images police found 36 moving images and 21 were still.”

Ultimately, Sheriff Montgomery ordered Baillie to pay a fine of £2000, with the deadline set for Wednesday, December 7. The case highlights ongoing concerns about the possession and distribution of extreme and illegal material, and the legal consequences faced by individuals involved in such activities.
