DAVID ALLEN FROM HUDDERSFIELD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON PUPILS IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE
In a case that has shocked the local community, David Allen, a 62-year-old former teacher from Huddersfield, has been sentenced for serious sexual offenses committed against young pupils during the 1980s.The incidents took place within the confines of a primary school in Nottinghamshire, where Allen was employed as an educator at the time.
Allen was brought before Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, March 16, and received a two-year prison sentence, which was suspended for two years.
This means that while he was formally sentenced, he will not serve time in prison unless he commits another offense within the suspension period.
The court's decision followed a detailed investigation into allegations made by two victims, who were just eight and nine years old when the assaults occurred.
The victims, who have chosen to remain anonymous, independently contacted Nottinghamshire Police to report the indecent assaults.
One of the victims was a pupil in Allen’s classroom, and during the investigation, it was revealed that he was escorted out of the classroom and subjected to inappropriate conduct by Allen.
The second victim, also nine years old at the time, reported that the abuse took place in the school playground, further indicating the disturbing nature of Allen’s misconduct.
Both victims attended the same primary school during the same period, and their accounts corroborated each other, leading to a thorough investigation.
The police interviewed Allen after receiving the reports in September 2019 and February 2020.
During questioning, Allen admitted to two counts of indecent assault on a child under the age of 14.
Following his guilty plea, Allen was ordered to register as a sex offender and is now legally prohibited from working with children.
The case highlights the importance of safeguarding measures within educational institutions and the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children from abuse.
