A 29-year-old man named David Adamson, hailing from Hawick, has been handed a prison sentence of 16 months after admitting to engaging in sexual activities with a girl who was under the age of consent. The court proceedings revealed that Adamson had a series of encounters with the underage girl on multiple occasions spanning from January 1, 2015, to April 15, 2015. These incidents took place at two different residences located in Selkirk, a nearby town.

Throughout these encounters, Adamson was fully aware of the girl’s age, which was only 15 at the time. Despite knowing her age, he continued to pursue a sexual relationship with her. It was also disclosed that Adamson often expressed a desire to wait until she turned 16, indicating his awareness of the legal boundaries and his intentions to delay their relationship until she was of legal age. In court, Adamson pleaded guilty to the charges, which led to a reduction in his original sentence from 21 months to 16 months.
