MAN ASSAULTING PARTNER AND DAUGHTER RECEIVES COMMUNITY ORDER
SALESMAN Darren Olive, aged 35, from Craven Street, Bury, was involved in a violent incident following a dispute at his home. After he was removed by police from his residence in Blackley, Olive returned and physically assaulted his partner and her daughter. The court heard that Olive had gone to a pub with the women to watch England's World Cup match, but the women left early due to his disruptive behavior. Later that night, after a row erupted when he came home at midnight, Olive chased 24-year-old Katie Aldercroft upstairs and punched her, spat in her face, and struck her mother, Joanne Aldercroft, aged 40, when she tried to intervene. The fight spilled into the garden. Olive admitted to two counts of common assault and was sentenced to a two-year community order with supervision and participation in a domestic abuse programme. He was also ordered to pay compensation to the daughter (£240) and her mother (£50), along with £85 in court costs. The court noted that Olive accepted he had consumed too much alcohol during the incident.
