DARREN LAVIN FROM BIRKENHEAD EXPOSED BY HEARTBREAKING VIDEO REVEALING YEARS OF ABUSE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Birkenhead, a man named Darren Lavin has been linked to a series of heinous sexual offenses against young girls. The case came to light after a deeply distressing video created by one of his victims was discovered by chance, revealing the extent of his abuse over several years.

It was in May of the previous year that a family friend was asked to repair the girl’s laptop, which had become malfunctioning. During the process of examining the device, the friend came across files and internet search histories that raised suspicion. Recognizing the seriousness of what was found, he advised the girl’s family to speak with her about what she might be hiding.

What was uncovered was a poignant and harrowing video clip titled “My Story,” which the girl, then only 13 years old, had created. The video was set to music and featured her holding up flash cards that detailed her traumatic experiences. She disclosed that she had been sexually abused by Darren Lavin, a man residing on Bridge Street in Birkenhead, from the age of six until nine. The video served as a powerful plea for others who might have suffered similar abuse to find the courage to come forward.

Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, presiding at Liverpool Crown Court, described the video as a “clarion call” to victims of sexual abuse, emphasizing its importance in encouraging others to speak out. The court heard that Lavin had also assaulted another young girl, aged four, during the same period. Furthermore, he had encouraged her to touch him sexually, actions that compounded the severity of his crimes.

Following the discovery, the girl provided a detailed account to police, explaining that Lavin had sexually touched her on at least four occasions between 2009 and 2010. Lavin’s criminal record included a previous conviction in 2014, when he was handed a suspended sentence by Liverpool Youth Court for sexual assault on girls aged 12 and 13. During that earlier case, he admitted to communicating with the girls over social media and “snogging” them after arranging to meet.

In the current case, Lavin pleaded guilty to the charges related to the younger victim, but was found guilty after a trial of the offenses revealed through the video. He faced multiple charges, including sexual assault, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. His sentencing was scheduled for today; however, due to issues with a pre-sentence report, the hearing was postponed until July 27.

Prosecutor Kenneth Grant explained to the court that the investigation was initiated after the family’s friend discovered the video. The judge acknowledged the significance of the video, stating, “Yes it was a clarion call to those who might see the clip; if they had been sexually abused to have the courage to come forward.”

Lavin’s actions and the evidence presented have cast a dark shadow over Birkenhead, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the need for victims to come forward. The case continues to develop as authorities prepare a comprehensive pre-sentence report to determine the appropriate punishment for Lavin’s disturbing crimes.
