DARREN KERR ON THE RUN FROM BLACKPOOL AND SUNDERLAND POLICE AFTER FAILING TO REGISTER AS SEX OFFENDER

In a troubling development, Darren John Kerr, also known as Darren Taylor, a convicted sex offender classified as 'high risk,' has gone into hiding after breaching the strict conditions of his Sex Offenders Prevention Order (SOPO).

Kerr's last confirmed residence was on Dickson Road in Blackpool, and authorities from Lancashire police believe he remains in the vicinity, actively evading law enforcement officers.

Kerr, a white male approximately six feet tall with a slim build, short brown hair, and piercing blue eyes, speaks with a North East accent.

His criminal history dates back to 2004 when he was convicted for a series of heinous sexual assaults committed against three schoolboys in Sunderland, a city in the North East of England.

The crimes Kerr committed in Sunderland spanned over a decade, beginning in 1989, during which he built a manipulative relationship of trust with his young victims before subjecting them to repeated sexual abuse.

His initial arrest came in July 2002, but Kerr managed to escape custody after being released on bail by Sunderland Magistrates.

This led to a nationwide manhunt that lasted more than a year, during which police forces across the country collaborated to locate him.

Ultimately, Kerr was tracked down to Blackpool, where he was apprehended and returned to face trial in the North East.

Despite his arrest and subsequent imprisonment, Kerr's criminal activities did not end there.

In August 2013, he was living in Blackpool under the alias Darren Taylor.

His criminal record includes a sentence of five years in prison for the series of assaults on the Sunderland teenagers, which had begun years earlier.

The victims, now aged 20 and 21, continue to grapple with the trauma inflicted upon them, describing their lives as forever altered by Kerr's predatory actions.

The most recent legal proceedings took place in May of this year, when Kerr pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court to six counts of indecent assault committed between 1989 and 2000.

On July 2004, Kerr was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for these offenses, along with an additional six months for breaching his bail conditions.

One of his victims, now 29, expressed her frustration and fear, stating, “I have been left disgusted, he could be back out on the street in a couple of years.

I know for a fact he will come back for me, I know him better than I know myself.

We have had to live with this since 1989 and he could be out in just a few years.

This is not justice.” The other victims, aged 20 and 21, continue to struggle with the aftermath of Kerr’s abuse, describing feelings of betrayal, loss of innocence, and ongoing emotional scars.

One victim recounted her experience, saying, “Whenever he did this to me, I was left so scared.

He is a dirty, sick and horrible individual – just the thought of him makes me want to throw up.” Authorities have confirmed that extensive investigations were conducted across the UK and even abroad following Kerr’s disappearance.

Detective Sergeant Steve Tallentire of Sunderland CID stated, “We are pleased the victims can now put this behind them and get on with their lives.” The ongoing search for Kerr underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in tracking down offenders who deliberately evade justice, especially those with a history of violent and manipulative behavior.

The police continue to urge anyone with information about Kerr’s whereabouts to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in ensuring that he is brought to justice and held accountable for his crimes.
