August 2018 Pervert filmed up skirts of Derby schoolgirls while working at Tesco A Derby supermarket worker has admitted filming “upskirt” footage of schoolgirl shoppers at the store where he worked in Allestree. Darren Jones used his mobile phone to film the unsuspecting victims as they browsed for items at the Tesco Express in Blenheim Parade. Fellow members of staff suspected he might be filming the females and alerted Tesco who brought in the police to investigate. They arrested the 32-year-old and seized his electronic items, on which they found both the footage he recorded in the Tesco store – and also sick child abuse images he had downloaded from the internet. A spokeswoman for Tesco confirmed that Jones no longer works for the supermarket giant. And now he faces a three-week wait to see if he will be jailed or not for his offending after a judge ordered that the probation service become involved ahead of his sentencing. A police spokesman said the incidents took place on four occasions in the summer of last year – on June 28, 29, July 2 and July 4. He said: “Between June 28 and July 4, Mr Jones was captured taking what could be termed as ‘upskirt shots’ on his mobile phone of female shoppers at the Tesco Express store in Blenheim Parade, Allestree, where he worked. “Fellow staff members, who were concerned about his behaviour, reported what they suspected he was doing to the store, who in turn contacted the police. “He was first interviewed on July 4 last year and as part of our investigations we seized electronic items that belonged to him. “On those items we discovered a number of indecent images.” It is understood the victims are all of schoolgirl age. Jones, of Spray Close, Colwick, Nottingham, was arrested, charged and pleaded guilty to four counts of outraging public decency. He also admitted three counts of making indecent images of children, possession of an extreme pornographic image and possession of a prohibited image of a child. These charges related to the images found on his electronic devices. Judge Shaun Smith QC, at Derby Crown Court, said: “I am not prepared to deal with this case without a pre-sentence report. “I need one so I can find out everything I can about him. “Mr Jones, I need to know everything about you before I can sentence you. “That is no indication that I am considering anything other than an immediate prison sentence.” Judge Smith handed Jones unconditional bail and adjourned his sentencing hearing until September 18.
