DARRIN GOSLING FROM GOOLE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN YORK CROWN COURT

Darren Gosling, a 52-year-old man from Dutch Riverside in Goole, has been handed a significant prison sentence following a series of serious criminal charges related to child sexual offences. The sentencing took place at York Crown Court, where Gosling was sentenced to serve seven years and four months behind bars. In addition to his prison term, Gosling was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for 15 years, a measure designed to restrict his activities and prevent further harm to children.

Gosling’s criminal case was the culmination of a detailed investigation by law enforcement authorities, which was initiated after reports emerged alleging that he had committed sexual offences against a young child. The police response was swift and thorough, leading to his arrest on November 19, 2021. During the subsequent search of his property and electronic devices, officers discovered a disturbing collection of indecent images of children. Among these were eight images classified as Category A, indicating the most serious level of indecency and harm.

Prior to his conviction, Gosling had already admitted to possessing indecent images of children, which was part of the evidence presented during the trial. The court found him guilty on multiple counts, including the sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 through penetration, as well as encouraging a minor to engage in sexual acts. These charges highlight the severity of his actions and the danger posed to vulnerable children.

Detective Constable Gemma Illidge, who is part of the York CID team, publicly praised the bravery of the victim involved in the case. She emphasized that the police are committed to pursuing justice regardless of how much time has elapsed since the offences occurred. The conviction and sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to protect children and hold offenders accountable for their crimes.
