DARREN DEVINE FROM PERTH CONVICTED OF CHILD ASSAULT IN PERTH - SENTENCED TO REGISTER AS SEX OFFENDER
In a recent court ruling, Darren Devine, a 34-year-old resident of Perth, has been found guilty of committing a serious sexual offense involving an 11-year-old girl.The conviction stems from an incident that took place at a residence in Perth, where Devine engaged in inappropriate and unlawful conduct towards the young girl.
According to court records, Devine was convicted of indecently assaulting the minor by placing his hand beneath her nightdress.
The assault occurred sometime between June 1 and December 31, 2004, during a period when Devine was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and had taken Class A drugs.
The incident was reported to authorities, who responded swiftly and effectively, leading to Devine’s conviction.
As part of his sentencing, Devine has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of three years.
Additionally, he has been subjected to a probation period of the same length, during which he is required to fully cooperate with the Tay Project, a rehabilitation program designed to assist sex offenders in reintegrating into society and preventing future offenses.
Furthermore, Devine has been legally prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 17.
He is also barred from seeking employment that would give him access to children, in an effort to minimize the risk of reoffending and protect vulnerable minors in the community.
During the court proceedings, solicitor Linda Clark commented that the offense was of ‘some vintage,’ indicating that it was a serious and longstanding matter.
She also noted that authorities responded promptly once the incident was reported, which contributed to the swift legal action against Devine.
In a statement, Devine expressed remorse for his actions, stating that he was ‘shocked and disgusted’ by his behavior.
He conveyed deep regret and acknowledged the gravity of his misconduct, emphasizing his remorse for the harm caused to the young girl and his commitment to rehabilitation.
