DARLINGTON MAN JAILED FOR STABBING GIRLFRIEND IN EXTENSIVE KNIFE ATTACK
A man from Darlington, Danny Oxley, has been sentenced to jail after stabbing his girlfriend in the chest. The incident was triggered by Oxley's suspicion that his partner was unfaithful with his brother. Oxley was given an extended sentence for public protection because it was his fourth offence involving a blade. A probation report described him as a 'high risk' of re-offending and a danger to his partner. The court heard that Oxley has a criminal record with 25 offences, including three robberies, threatening a police officer with a blade in 2009, and a three-year sentence for a shop raid at knifepoint in 2011. During the court hearing, it was revealed that the violent act occurred in December shortly after the couple's breakup, following an argument fueled by alcohol and jealousy. Oxley grabbed a Stanley knife from the kitchen and stabbed his girlfriend in the chest, telling her 'now you'll meet the real Danny.' He was sentenced to two years for unlawful wounding, with an additional two years on immediate licence if he re-offends. The judge, Recorder Jamie Hill, QC, told Oxley that his drunken aggression and pattern of violence were concerning, emphasizing the incident's severity and the importance of monitoring him to prevent further harm.
