DANNY FOSTER FROM LYMPTON SHOCKS COMMUNITY WITH CRUELTY TO PUPPY NEAR EXMOUTH

In a disturbing incident that has shocked residents of Lympstone and the surrounding area, Danny Foster, born around 1987 and associated with the Royal Marine Commando Training Centre located on Exmouth Road, was convicted in 2018 of heinous animal cruelty involving a young puppy named Duchy.

On a quiet evening in April 2018, witnesses at a railway station near the military training base observed Foster engaging in a violent attack on the defenseless dog. The incident unfolded in the shelter area of the station, where a family had temporarily let their puppy off its lead. The puppy, Duchy, wandered towards the family members, seemingly unthreatening and innocent.

According to court reports, Foster appeared to be heavily intoxicated at the time, staggering as he approached the puppy. Without warning, he seized the small dog and forcefully placed her under his arm. The court heard that Foster then proceeded to put both his hands around Duchy’s neck, raising his arms above his head in a threatening manner before violently throwing her onto the pavement. The dog was propelled approximately two or three yards forward, landing with a thud.

Following this, Foster did not stop his assault. He then kicked the injured puppy while she was on the ground, causing further suffering. Witnesses at the scene, including a family nearby, shouted in horror, exclaiming, “Oh my God, he has thrown the dog.”

Foster’s violent actions did not end there. After the attack, he ran away from the scene, staggering into a nearby pub. Moments later, he re-emerged carrying Duchy under his arm, further demonstrating his disregard for the animal’s welfare.

Police were promptly called to the scene. Officers located Foster at the car park of the military camp, where he responded to their presence with hostility, shouting abuse at both the police officers and senior Marine personnel. Law enforcement officers had to use captor spray to subdue him before arresting him. During police interviews, Foster chose to remain silent and did not provide any explanation for his actions.

In court, Foster admitted to causing unnecessary suffering to the puppy, a plea that led to his sentencing. He was ordered to pay a fine of £900 along with additional costs amounting to £175. The case has sparked outrage among animal welfare advocates and the local community, highlighting the importance of holding individuals accountable for cruelty towards animals.

This incident was reported by DevonLive and remains a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and compassion towards vulnerable creatures in our society.
