DANNA ALI SENTENCED IN CLEVEDON FOR VIOLENT CRIMES AND DOMESTIC ABUSE IN TEESSIDE
A man found guilty of dangerous and controlling behavior, who repeatedly abused his partner, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison.Danna Ali, aged 38, appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, 15 May, where he admitted to charges of actual bodily harm (ABH), stalking with a fear of violence, and dangerous driving.
Regarded by authorities as a habitual abuser, Ali's relationship with the woman was characterized by manipulation, violence, and deceit—including falsehoods regarding his identity and age. Police first became aware of his conduct in June 2022 following a 999 call from the victim’s mother’s residence. Officers responded to find Ali attempting to force entry and threatening violence.
In a particularly severe incident in December 2022 at a Middlesbrough hotel, an argument escalated into a violent assault, during which Ali grabbed the victim by her hair, threw her to the ground, and attacked her physically. He later forced her to clean blood stains from the scene before setting fire to bedsheets.
Additional acts included smashing her phone to stop her from recording evidence, attempting to drown her in the bath, and trying to break into her home. Although Ali was arrested and charged by mid-2023, he was released on bail and continued his harassment and abuse.
Shortly after his release, he assaulted her again by injuring her with a thrown object and damaging her phone. When police officers arrived, they discovered his tracking device had been removed and Ali was missing, leading to a public appeal.
His abusive behavior intensified when he used a vehicle to threaten and intimidate her, allegedly driving at her while making verbal threats. In April 2024, he committed another violent attack in Ormesby, pulling her hair, kicking, punching, and leaving her injured at the roadside after destroying her phone.
Ali was subsequently detained again in November 2024 for breaching contact restrictions and persistently harassing the victim through calls and messages. He is now incarcerated and faces a series of additional charges linked to his extended pattern of domestic violence.
