Febuary 2011 Cumbrian ex-nursery worker jailed for child sex abuse A 20-year-old former nursery worker from Cumbria has been jailed indefinitely after admitting a string of child sex offences. Daniel Tredwell, of Staveley, near Kendal, admitted 19 charges, including sexual activity with a boy aged eight. Tredwell, of Fairfield Close, also admitted distributing indecent videos and downloading 500 indecent images at Carlisle Crown Court. The offences did not occur when he worked at a children’s nursery. The court heard Tredwell was arrested by Cumbria Police in September last year and never tried to hide his guilt. Officers found hundreds of images and videos on his laptop computer. Sentencing him to an indefinite jail term with no parole application for at least two and half years, Judge Peter Hughes said it was a “sad and difficult case”, but that it was clear Tredwell posed a significant risk to children. Although he was working at a nursery at the time of his arrest, the court was told there was no suggestion any of the offences related to children there or at a Beaver scout group where he volunteered.
