ASHLEY WALKER FROM STAVELEY SENTENCED IN DERBYSHIRE FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND INTERNET SEARCHES

In a serious case that has shocked the local community, Ashley Walker, a resident of Staveley in Derbyshire, has been sentenced to prison after a series of disturbing online activities and possession of illicit images. The incident came to light following police intervention at his home, revealing a pattern of disturbing behavior that included internet searches related to sexual violence and the possession of highly illegal and graphic material.

Derby Crown Court heard that Walker, aged 38, who has a criminal record with two previous jail sentences for similar offenses, was found to have engaged in searches for terms such as 'rape scene,' 'teen porn,' and 'new baby girl.' These searches indicated a disturbing interest in sexual violence involving minors. During the police search of his residence near Chesterfield on September 3, 2020, officers seized two mobile phones, one of which was previously unknown to Walker.

Examination of the devices uncovered a trove of highly disturbing content. Prosecutor Eunice Opare-Addo detailed that the phones contained images and videos depicting children in underwear and swimwear, as well as explicit material involving animals. Among the most serious findings were two Category A films, which are classified as the most severe in terms of illegal content, along with one Category C film and five images of animal pornography. Walker admitted to watching rape scene pornography and acknowledged that the phones contained images of children in sexualized situations.

Walker’s criminal history includes convictions from 2011 and 2015 for similar offenses, underscoring a pattern of predatory behavior. His guilty pleas to two counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornographic material led to his sentencing. The judge, Jonathan Bennett, sentenced Walker to 14 months in prison, emphasizing the severity of his actions and the danger he poses to the community.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Walker was subjected to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order, designed to restrict his access to potential victims and prevent further offending. Furthermore, he received an extended three-year license period following his release, reflecting the ongoing risk he presents. Judge Bennett described Walker as a dangerous offender, citing his lack of remorse and the horrific nature of the images he possessed, including a video depicting a child aged four to six being raped by an adult. The court’s decision underscores the serious concern for public safety and the need to prevent such offenses from recurring.
