COLDSTREAM MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD CRUELTY OFFENCES

A 52-YEAR-OLD man has been accused of enga­ging in a course of con­duct which was abus­ive to a part­ner or ex-part­ner over a three year period.

Daniel Torbett, formerly of Ben­necoat Drive, Cold­stream but now liv­ing in Mus­sel­burgh, is alleged to have dis­played con­trolling beha­viour towards the woman at addresses in Cold­stream and at a loc­a­tion in Tur­key between June 2022 and Novem­ber 16 this year.

He is also charged with assault­ing a 13-year-old child and behav­ing in a threat­en­ing or abus­ive man­ner on Septem­ber 8.

The case was con­tin­ued without plea at Jed­burgh Sher­iff Court until Feb­ru­ary 10.
