DANIEL SHERIDAN'S SHOCKING ATTACK IN ROSYTH LEAVES EIGHT-YEAR-OLD INJURED
In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Rosyth, a young boy suffered injuries after being violently thrown to the ground by Daniel Sheridan, a 32-year-old man residing in Cairneyhill. The incident took place on October 9 of the previous year at Sheridan's former residence in Rosyth, where he was involved in an assault that has now led to his conviction and sentencing.According to court records, Sheridan was found guilty of physically assaulting an eight-year-old boy by grabbing him and forcefully throwing him onto the floor. The assault resulted in visible injuries to the child and caused considerable distress to the young victim. The case was heard at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last year, where Sheridan was convicted of the charges brought against him.
During the trial, defense solicitor David McLaughlin acknowledged Sheridan's remorse, stating, “He accepts that the child was injured because of an incident involving him and shows genuine remorse.” Despite this, the court recognized the severity of the assault and the impact it had on the young boy.
Sheriff Charles Macnair emphasized the seriousness of the offense, noting that the assault not only caused physical injury but also inflicted “significant upset” on the child and his family. As part of the sentence, the sheriff ordered Sheridan to complete a community payback order, which requires him to perform 150 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, Sheridan was issued a three-year non-harassment order to prevent any further contact or intimidation involving the victim or his family.
This case highlights the importance of addressing violent behavior and protecting vulnerable members of the community, especially children, from harm. The community of Rosyth and surrounding areas are urged to remain vigilant and report any concerns related to violence or abuse.
