DANIEL SALISBURY CAUGHT IN POLICE STING AT GILLINGHAM SERVICE STATION
In a significant law enforcement operation, Daniel Salisbury, a resident of Rotary Gardens in Gillingham, was apprehended after attempting to meet what he believed was a teenage girl at a service station. The incident took place at Cobham Services on November 16, 2018, and was part of a targeted police sting conducted by officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit.
Unbeknownst to Salisbury, the individual he was communicating with was an undercover police officer.
When the 31-year-old arrived at the designated location with the intent to engage in illegal activity, law enforcement officers swiftly intervened and detained him.
This operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation and safeguard minors from predatory behavior.
Following his arrest, Salisbury was brought before Guildford Crown Court, where he faced charges related to child sex offences.
On Wednesday, he was found guilty of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.
The court also determined that Salisbury had violated a sexual harm prevention order previously imposed on him.
This order was originally issued after Salisbury was found in possession of indecent images of children in 2014.
As a result of his convictions, Salisbury received a sentence of 16 months’ imprisonment, which is to run concurrently with other sentences he may be serving.
Additionally, he was ordered to remain on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his offences and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
Salisbury’s case underscores the persistent efforts of law enforcement agencies in Gillingham and the wider region to combat child exploitation and bring offenders to justice.
