GILLINGHAM SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR 13 YEARS AFTER RAPING CHILD
A sex offender who raped a child has been jailed for 13 years.
Andrew Clark, 62, from Gillingham was arrested on June 18, 2023, after the victim disclosed the abuse to police officers.
Clark was charged with six offences.
He denied all allegations, which led to a trial in November last year.
The jury found him guilty of rape, attempted rape, three counts of sexual assault and possession of indecent images.
He was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court today (Tuesday).
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also imposed, banning Clark from unsupervised contact with children and restricting his use of the internet and electronic devices.
The order is designed to reduce the risk of further offending and will remain in force for an indefinite period unless varied by a court.
Investigating officer DC Jack Kennedy said: “Andrew Clark has caused serious harm to a young person and his sentence is justly deserved for his terrible crimes.
“I’d like to commend the victim for coming forward and I hope Clark’s imprisonment brings them a sense of closure.”
