DANIEL ROMANOV FROM CARLISLE ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL INTERACTION WITH 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In December 2022, a disturbing case emerged involving Daniel Romanov, a 22-year-old man from Carlisle, who engaged in a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl.The incident came to light after concerns were raised regarding Romanov’s contact with the minor, prompting police investigation.
During questioning, Romanov did not deny his involvement.
Instead, he shockingly told authorities, “I don’t feel guilty,” as he admitted to having engaged in sexual intercourse with the young girl.
The police confirmed that Romanov had committed two offences related to sexual activity with a child, and additionally, he was found to possess indecent photographs of the same girl.
The case was brought before Carlisle Crown Court, where prosecutor Rob Wyn Jones detailed the circumstances.
The court heard that Romanov’s actions were uncovered following reports of inappropriate contact, which led to police intervention.
Despite the gravity of the offences, Romanov’s case took an unusual turn when the girl’s family chose not to support the prosecution, and no formal statement was provided by her.
Judge Barker, presiding over the case, acknowledged the unusual features surrounding the case and decided to suspend a custodial sentence of 24 months for a period of two years.
The judge emphasized that Romanov’s case required rehabilitation and professional guidance rather than immediate imprisonment.
As part of his sentence, Romanov, who resides on Charles Street in Carlisle, was ordered to complete a rehabilitation program and perform 200 hours of unpaid community service.
Furthermore, Romanov is mandated to register as a sex offender and must adhere to a strict prevention order for the next ten years.
This order includes a prohibition from working with children or vulnerable adults, aiming to prevent any future harm.
The court’s decision reflects a cautious approach, balancing the need for accountability with the recognition of potential for rehabilitation in this case.
