MAN AVOIDS JAIL DESPITE SEXUALLY ASSAULTING GIRL, 10, ON THEME PARK LOG FLUME RIDE

Daniel Peters, aged 35, who committed sexual assaults against a girl under 13 at Gulliver's World theme park, has received a suspended prison sentence instead of immediate jail time.

Peters pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual assault involving a 10-year-old girl.

The victim endured significant emotional and physical harm, including hair loss, trouble sleeping, and fleeing her home.

The first incident in May 2020 took place when Peters stopped in a remote layby and touched the girl's thigh for five minutes.

Subsequently, at Warrington’s Gulliver's World, he forcibly pressed the girl’s breasts during a ride, despite her and her friend's protests.

The girl later sent a letter to her parents describing suicidal thoughts and expressing intense fear, which led to her being under extreme stress.

Peters was detained after the victim reported the incidents to authorities, and he admitted to the charges in court.

In sentencing, the judge acknowledged that Peters had started therapy and was making efforts to improve.

He received a 24-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, along with orders to complete 180 hours of unpaid work, undertake rehabilitative programs, and abide by restraining and sexual harm prevention orders.

The judge expressed optimism about Peters’s potential for rehabilitation, remarking, “I believe that you can be rehabilitated.”
