DANIEL PAUL CORDORY FROM EASTLEIGH SENTENCED FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES IN SOUTHAMPTON
A man identified as Daniel Paul Cordory was found to possess thousands of explicit images depicting children in cartoon and animated form. The court was told that Cordory, aged 35, had stored a total of 7,148 such images on his desktop computer.Prosecution lawyer Christopher Amis explained that police raided Cordory’s residence on Twyford Road, Eastleigh, and preliminary checks on his computer revealed multiple files featuring animated and cartoon children. During police interviews, Cordory claimed that "pop-up images of children had appeared" as he browsed adult websites, and he stated that he had taken measures to prevent these pop-ups.
The court heard that Cordory also engaged with a computer game that depicted children being abused. Mr. Amis pointed out that the defendant controlled some characters in the game, describing them as distinctly child-like, but emphasized, "There is in fact no victim because the images are cartoon."
At Southampton Crown Court, Cordory faced a single charge of possessing prohibited images of a child. He pleaded guilty to the offence after his arrest in July of the previous year. The court described his collection of images as "grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character."
Cordory, who has no prior convictions, was represented by Chris Gaiger, who argued for the possibility of rehabilitation. In sentencing, Judge Nicholas Rowland imposed a 24-month community order, which includes 40 days of rehabilitation activities and 150 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, Cordory was placed under a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
