HARROW SEX OFFENDER DANIEL PATEL SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR ATTACK ON TEENAGE GIRL BEHIND BINS

In a disturbing incident that took place in Harrow, a 26-year-old man named Daniel Patel was convicted of a heinous sexual assault committed against a teenage girl. The assault occurred in broad daylight along Hunter Grove, a residential street in north-west London, during the month of June. According to reports, Patel had been lurking behind bins, concealing his naked body as he waited for an unsuspecting victim.

As the 17-year-old girl was walking alone, she initially noticed a naked man standing behind the bins. Alarmed by his presence, she instinctively crossed the road in an attempt to avoid any confrontation. However, her efforts were thwarted when Patel suddenly ran up behind her, grabbing her and pulling her to the ground. The young woman, terrified and screaming, was subjected to a sexual assault as Patel stood over her and performed an indecent act. The assault was interrupted when members of the public, hearing her screams, rushed to her aid, causing Patel to flee the scene.

Police officers responded swiftly to the distress calls and began a search for the suspect. During their pursuit, they observed Patel hopping over garden fences in an attempt to escape. When officers attempted to apprehend him, he resisted arrest and tried to fight off the police using force. It was only after they deployed CS spray that Patel was subdued and taken into custody. The officers' quick response and use of force ultimately led to his arrest.

Detective Constable Janine Stevenson commented on the case, stating, “Patel’s disturbing and predatory behaviour that day resulted in a young woman being left traumatised and haunted by what happened to her. His attack was fuelled by drugs and his own selfish desire for sexual gratification. Patel’s selfishness has continued by subjecting the victim and her family to months of upset and anxiety before eventually admitting to the court what he did that day.”

In addition to the sexual assault charges, Daniel Patel was also convicted of two separate arson offences involving setting fire to parked cars in Harrow. These charges further highlight his pattern of reckless and dangerous behaviour. Patel pleaded guilty to the sexual assault at Harrow Crown Court in October, and yesterday, he was sentenced to five years in prison for his crimes. His sentencing marks a significant step in seeking justice for the victim and addressing the broader issues of public safety and criminal behaviour in the Harrow community.
