DANIEL OUTING SENTENCED IN NORFOLK FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEENAGE GIRL
A man named Daniel Outing has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term following his involvement in a disturbing sexual relationship with a teenage girl in Norfolk.The case was heard at Norwich Crown Court, where it was revealed that Outing, aged 32 at the time, began his inappropriate relationship with the girl when he was 24 years old.
The victim was only 14 years old at the time, making the relationship not only morally reprehensible but also illegal.
According to court proceedings, after the girl confided in a family member about her sexual encounters with Outing, authorities were alerted.
Police swiftly responded, arresting Outing and seizing his electronic devices for investigation.
The devices uncovered a shocking collection of over 700 indecent images of children, including 102 images classified as Category A, which is the most severe category.
These images depicted children aged between two and four years old.
In addition to this, investigators found 247 extreme pornographic images featuring a woman and animals, further highlighting the disturbing nature of Outing’s online activity.
Outing, who was described as having no fixed address at the time, appeared in court to face sentencing after admitting to multiple charges.
He pleaded guilty to six counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor between April 2017 and July 2018.
He also admitted to three counts of making indecent images of a child and possessing extreme pornographic material.
Furthermore, Outing acknowledged an offence of failing to comply with notification requirements, as he did not inform police of his homelessness, which is a legal obligation for sex offenders.
The court heard a statement from the victim, who expressed her regret and confusion at the time, stating she had not fully understood the seriousness and wrongfulness of her actions.
She explained that Outing had encouraged her to leave school early so they could spend time together and had warned her not to tell anyone about their relationship, claiming that both of them would be in trouble if they did.
The victim described how this experience had severely impacted her mental health, leading to feelings of anxiety and depression.
She emphasized that she was unable to move forward with her life until the court case was resolved.
Judge Andrew Shaw delivered a stern sentence, imposing an extended term of ten years, consisting of six years in prison followed by four years on licence.
The judge described Outing as a dangerous offender, citing the significant risk he posed to other young girls and the substantial psychological harm inflicted upon his victim.
The judge underscored the seriousness of the case, highlighting the lasting impact on the victim’s mental health.
Representing Outing, lawyer Andrew Thompson noted that his client had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and had no prior convictions of this nature.
He acknowledged that the relationship was inappropriate and emphasized that it should never have occurred.
Thompson also pointed out that the case had experienced considerable delays and mentioned that Outing, who has dyslexia, was deeply remorseful upon reflection, recognizing the errors of his ways.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a series of strict measures to prevent future contact with the victim.
Outing was subjected to an indefinite restraining order, prohibiting him from making any contact.
He was also placed on the sex offenders register for life and subjected to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from potential harm.
