DANIEL JONES FROM STAFFORD LOCKED UP FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND SEX OFFENDER BREACHES IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Stafford community, Daniel Jones, aged 34, has been sentenced to prison after a series of serious offenses related to child exploitation and breaches of sex offender regulations. The case unfolded after Jones was caught engaging in conversations with an undercover police officer, during which he openly expressed his disturbing intentions towards a young schoolgirl.According to police reports, Jones revealed in a chat that he was attempting to establish a sexual relationship with a school-aged girl, explicitly stating his interest in children. The officer involved disclosed that he was also involved in activities with his niece and was seeking like-minded individuals. Jones’s admission was part of an investigation that uncovered his possession and distribution of numerous indecent images of children.
Authorities swiftly moved to arrest Jones, who was found to have a significant collection of illegal images stored on his mobile device. The police discovered that he had distributed dozens of these images, further compounding his criminal conduct. After the arrest, Jones went on the run for more than ten months, evading law enforcement authorities and making efforts to conceal his whereabouts.
His fugitive status ended when police tracked him down at an address in Stoke-on-Trent. During the arrest, Jones attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief struggle. It was revealed that he had been living at the Stoke-on-Trent address for several months and had been alone with children during this period, which was a clear violation of his notification obligations.
The police investigation uncovered that Jones possessed a total of 88 indecent images classified as Category A, the most severe level, depicting children aged between three and nine being sexually abused. Additionally, he had 34 images at Category B and 46 at Category C. The images included two extreme pornographic videos. It was also established that Jones had distributed 13 Category A images, along with 18 at Category B and eight at Category C.
Jones’s breaches extended beyond possession and distribution. He had failed to inform police of his current address, a requirement for registered sex offenders. He had previously appeared in court on February 14 of the previous year but left before his hearing commenced. His failure to comply with the notification requirements led to further charges.
On January 2, police located Jones at an address in Stoke-on-Trent. Despite attempts to evade arrest, he was found nearby after fleeing the scene. The investigation confirmed that he had been living at the address for several months and had been alone with children, which was a direct breach of his legal obligations.
Jones, who resides on St Matthews Drive, Derrington, Stafford, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including making and distributing indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornography, failing to surrender to court, and breaching notification requirements.
In sentencing, the court imposed a four-year prison term for his crimes. Additionally, Jones was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which will remain in effect for ten years. He will also be on the sex offenders’ register for life. The court ordered that he serve half of his sentence in custody, with the remainder on license, ensuring ongoing supervision and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
