MAIDSTONE PAEDOPHILE DANIEL HARRISON SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES AGAINST CHILD
In December 2018, Daniel Harrison, a 35-year-old courier from Maidstone, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving a young girl. The case was heard at Maidstone Crown Court, where the victim, a teenage girl, bravely read her victim impact statement aloud during the sentencing hearing, despite the emotional difficulty of recounting her experiences.
Harrison’s criminal conduct began when he would pick up the girl on the Isle of Sheppey, where he would engage in increasingly inappropriate and abusive behaviour.
The court heard that his actions escalated to the point where he made the girl touch him in a sexual manner and ultimately molested her.
The prosecutor, Vivian Walters, explained that the girl did not initially disclose the abuse, stating, “She didn’t tell anyone at the time.
She said she didn’t know what to do.” Further details revealed that Harrison’s misconduct included an incident where he insisted on applying cream over her chest and private parts, which made her feel uncomfortable and distressed.
The victim eventually confided in a family friend, her mother, and the police about the abuse she endured.
During police interviews, Harrison initially denied any sexual contact but later admitted to touching her for a few seconds under her clothing and acknowledged that she had touched him intimately.
Harrison, whose address is listed as Bower Terrace, Maidstone, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and one count of causing or inciting a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.
His sentencing reflects the severity of his crimes, which have had a profound impact on the victim’s mental health and well-being.
The girl’s statement detailed how the abuse led her to feelings of suicidal ideation and hindered her education, emphasizing her struggle to access the necessary support and help.
As part of his sentence, Harrison’s name will be entered onto the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
Additionally, he will be legally barred from working with children and vulnerable adults, aiming to prevent any future harm.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of his offences and the ongoing need to protect young victims from predators like him.
