DANIEL HALFORD FROM NEWPORT FACES JAIL FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN CARDIFF
In a serious development in Newport, a man identified as Daniel Halford, aged 37, is now facing the possibility of immediate imprisonment after admitting to multiple charges related to child sexual offences.The case was heard at Cardiff Crown Court, where Halford appeared via video link from Parc Prison in Bridgend, reflecting the gravity of the allegations against him.
Halford, who resides on Darent Walk in Bettws, Newport, pleaded guilty to three separate counts involving inappropriate and illegal communications with a minor.
Specifically, he admitted to engaging in sexual communication with a girl under the age of 13 on two occasions, and also to attempting to incite a girl under 13 to participate in sexual activity.
These offences are alleged to have taken place in February of the same year.
The court proceedings revealed that Halford was apprehended after being targeted by an online paedophile hunting team, which played a crucial role in uncovering the offences.
His arrest and subsequent court appearance have drawn significant attention to the ongoing efforts to combat online child exploitation.
During the hearing, Halford was represented by lawyer Ben Waters, while the prosecution was led by Rachel Knight.
The judge, Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, ordered that Halford be remanded in custody until his sentencing, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5.
