BILBOROUGH MAN WHO DOWNLOADED CHILD PORN IS TOLD HE 'NEEDS TO GET A LIFE'
An isolated man who downloaded child porn was told by a judge that he "needs to get a life." He was placed on a two-year probation order and must attend a programme to address his offending.Crowe, 32, of Wigman Road, Bilborough appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (November 19) after admitting downloading indecent images of children.
Referring to a report, Judge James Sampson said: "He is a somewhat socially isolated individual who needs to get a life, as they say." The judge explained that downloading pornographic material leads to "the abuse of children," and feeds the industry responsible for this "terrible abuse." Matthew Hayes, mitigating, said Crowe had previously been "engaged in voluntary work" in the IT department of a Nottingham college.
"He needs to develop aspects of his life.
There is a realistic chance of rehabilitation in this case," added Mr Hayes.
Katrina Wilson, prosecuting, reported that 1,523 indecent images were found on a hard drive at his home, including 18 in the most serious category, alongside 31 examples of extreme pornography and 188 prohibited images of a child, with the children's ages estimated to range from six to 12.
After examining the images, he "felt guilty and immediately erased them," said Miss Wilson.
Crowe had no previous trouble and is subject to a sexual harm prevention order that prohibits unsupervised contact with anyone under 16 and using the internet to contact that age group.
