RAPIST WAS ON BAIL WHEN HE ATTACKED THIRD VICTIM

A TEENAGER charged with raping two girls was released on bail - only to commit a third rape three days later.

Daniel Charnock even told his third victim that he would be 'sent down' as he raped her in bushes in a Warrington park.

On Thursday, a jury at Warrington Crown Court found him guilty of three counts of rape.

Charnock, aged 19, of Grasmere Avenue, Orford, attacked the three girls, who cannot be named, within the space of a few months.

When he was interviewed by Cheshire Police he denied the offences saying: "I can't stand rapists." The first two girls, who were walking home together, were lured into bushes in May before he raped them, one after the other.

On October 14, Charnock was given conditional bail by Warrington Magistrates after being charged with two counts of rape.

On October 21, three days before the third rape, he was again given conditional bail at a preliminary hearing at Warrington Crown Court.

He befriended his third victim before offering to walk her home through the same park where he forced her to have sex with him.

David Potter, prosecuting told the court: "He was charged with the first two rapes in October 2005, he was again bailed and it was while out on bail and only two weeks after he encountered the third victim." Charnock denied any contact with one of the girls, despite DNA evidence linking him to the case, for which there is only a one in 75 million chance of coming from someone else.

Mr Potter said: "None of the victims knew the defendant, or if they did, it was very loosely.

One striking feature are the similarities in which each of the offences took place.

For example, they all took place in the open air, in or near some bushes.

"In each case the defendant lured the girls into the bushes on the pretence that he wanted to meet them (kiss them)." Describing what happened to the first two girls he said: "He attracted their attention by whistling at them.

He was wearing a Lacoste tracksuit and holding a can of Fosters.

"His opening words were can you lend me a fag?

Both smoke and they crossed the road and fell into conversation with him." The court heard the girl claim: "He took me around the corner and threw me on the grass and said if you don't have sex with me then I will rape you." The jury heard that despite her repeatedly saying no, he then forced himself upon her.

Minutes later when the girl asked her friend if they could go, he walked with them again.

The second girl says he forced her to kiss him, asking her if she would have sex with him.

She says he then pushed her to the ground, ripping her skirt and blouse before raping her.

He befriended his third victim while she was with a group of friends.

When they left he offered to walk her home but pushed her to the ground and raped her before running off.

She ran to a nearby house for help.

The couple who found her said she was "shocked and like a frightened rabbit." Charnock will be sentenced on May 2.
