GALASHIELS MAN JAILED FOR THREE-YEAR CAMPAIGN OF DOMESTIC ABUSE
A 32-year-old man named Daniel Alderson who was found guilty of a three-year campaign of domestic abuse involving a female partner has been sentenced to 30 months in prison at Selkirk Sheriff Court.Following a five-day jury trial, Alderson was convicted of engaging in a pattern of abusive conduct towards the woman.
The offenses occurred at residences in Renton Terrace, Eyemouth; Anderson Place, Hawick; and Laidlaw Court in Galashiels, between January 2021 and December 2023.
During the course of the abuse, Alderson instructed her to wear make-up and provided her with skincare products to hide bruises he caused.
He repeatedly behaved violently, shouting and swearing at her, calling her derogatory names, punching and kicking her, striking her head against a door, and attempting to look through her mobile phone.
On one occasion, he placed his hands around her neck and squeezed, restricting her breathing.
The prison sentence was back-dated to July 2024 when he was first remanded, and he was described as a prisoner.
