TAXI DRIVER JAILED FOR VOYEURISM AND CHILD EXPLOITATION AT LIVERPOOL CINEMA
A man named Daniel Albertina was involved in a series of disturbing crimes uncovered following an incident at an Odeon cinema in Liverpool. The 39-year-old was caught on camera filming a boy using the toilet in a cinema restroom, which led to police investigations.
During the court hearing, it was revealed that he had travelled to the cinema in his Delta taxi.
Police seized a laptop and two phones from him, discovering 165 indecent images of children, some of which he had filmed himself of a teenage girl showering.
He also possessed extreme pornographic images involving animals.
Albertina admitted to voyeurism on about six occasions over six weeks while at the same cinema and expressed an attraction to young males and females.
The victim, a boy who was 'knocked sick' by the incident, shared his emotional impact, saying, "Following the incident, I didn't leave the house for a couple of weeks on my own.
I used to go the cinema regularly, but I no longer feel safe.
I'm now concerned about using public toilets.
It still knocks me sick knowing what this monster did to me.
I feel like this was an invasion of privacy.
I should be able to use them without something like this happening to me.
This should have been a private area where I could go in privacy." The court heard that Albertina had no previous convictions.
His defence highlighted his good character and his desire to seek help for his sexual issues, which he said had been a 'secret' for some time.
Despite this, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The judge described his conduct as 'outrageous' and 'appalling,' emphasizing the seriousness of the images and his ongoing obsession with voyeurism.
He was also handed a five-year restraining order, a 10-year order to prevent sexual harm, and will be on the sex offenders' register for ten years.
