DALE TIPPETT JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN PLYMOUTH AND STOKE
In a case that spanned over a decade and involved serious allegations of sexual misconduct, Dale Tippett, a resident of Devonport Road, Stoke, was sentenced to six and a half years in prison for his crimes committed in Plymouth. The lengthy legal proceedings culminated in a conviction that brought justice to two women who bravely came forward to testify against him.
According to court records, Tippett was found guilty of raping one teenage girl and sexually assaulting another.
The incidents took place over a period that extended from November 1994 to March 1996 for the first victim, coinciding with her 16th birthday, and between 1999 and 2001 for the second girl, who was between 14 and 15 years old at the time.
The victims, now adults, recounted their experiences during a week-long trial at Plymouth Crown Court, describing Tippett as a relentless bully who exploited their vulnerabilities to satisfy his own predatory desires.
The judge presiding over the case emphasized the gravity of Tippett’s actions, noting that he had taken advantage of a vulnerable teenager to commit the rape.
The court also heard that Tippett’s second victim was left deeply traumatised by her ordeal.
Both women described Tippett as a “bully,” and their testimonies painted a disturbing picture of manipulation and abuse.
Despite denying the charges, Tippett was convicted of one count of rape and three counts of indecent assault.
The jury, after eight hours of deliberation, returned guilty verdicts on all counts related to the indecent assaults, as well as the rape charge.
Tippett, appearing stoic and unflinching, stood silently as the verdicts were read out.
It was revealed during the trial that the second victim had reported her abuse to police in 2001.
Authorities traced the first girl’s allegations as well, but she had not initially made a formal complaint, which meant Tippett was not prosecuted at that time.
The Crown Prosecution Service’s representative, Garth Richardson, shared a statement from the second woman, who expressed relief and a sense of liberation after reporting her abuse.
She explained that prior to coming forward, she had been overwhelmed by her feelings, which affected her behaviour and relationships, including with her husband.
She also expressed remorse for the second victim and sympathy for Tippett’s partner at the time, revealing that Tippett had groped her and instructed her not to tell anyone about the incident.
The court heard that Tippett’s criminal history included a four-year prison sentence in 2010 for drug dealing involving cocaine, amphetamine, and cannabis resin.
Additionally, he received a suspended sentence in 2014 for an incident of affray.
Judge’s sentencing reflected the seriousness of the crimes, and Tippett’s past convictions underscored a pattern of criminal behaviour.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of justice for victims of sexual abuse, regardless of how much time has passed since the offences occurred.
