DALE GLANVILLE FROM KIRKCALDY SENTENCED AFTER VIOLENT ATTACK ON EX-PARTNER

A man from Kirkcaldy, Dale Glanville, aged 31, has been formally sentenced following a brutal assault on his former partner. The incident took place at an address in Smeaton Gardens, Kirkcaldy, on February 6, and involved a series of violent acts that left the victim injured and traumatized.

According to court reports, Glanville's attack was both aggressive and calculated. He repeatedly pushed the woman against a wall, pressing his head against hers in a display of dominance. The assault escalated when he managed to pin her down on a sofa, during which he covered her mouth with his hand to prevent her from calling for help. This act of violence was not an isolated incident, as Glanville admitted to multiple threats and acts of violence against her, which resulted in visible injuries.

The court heard that this violent episode occurred just five months after Glanville was released from prison, highlighting a troubling pattern of behavior. During the hearing, Glanville appeared via video link from Perth Prison, where he is currently detained. His defense lawyer, Zander Flett, acknowledged that Glanville was aware of the possibility of being remanded in custody and emphasized his client’s recognition of the need to address his ongoing issues with substance misuse, including alcohol and drugs.

Sheriff Susan Duff presided over the case and addressed Glanville’s background. She pointed out that he is well aware of his violent history, which includes nine previous convictions for violent offenses. The sheriff noted that Glanville’s troubled childhood and difficult school experiences likely played a role in shaping his violent tendencies. Given his extensive criminal record and ongoing substance abuse problems, the sheriff considered the possibility of imprisonment but ultimately decided on a supervised sentence.

Glanville was sentenced to a two-year supervision order, which includes strict conditions. He must reside in approved accommodation, participate in domestic violence offender programs, and disclose any new relationships. Furthermore, a non-harassment order has been issued, prohibiting him from contacting the victim for a period of two years. Sheriff Duff warned Glanville that his progress would be closely monitored, and if he receives a poor report in six weeks, the court may reconsider and impose a custodial sentence.

It is also relevant to note that Glanville has a prior conviction from 2019, when he was sentenced to 40 months in prison for his involvement in an armed robbery at a Kirkcaldy shop. During that incident, he and an accomplice threatened the shopkeeper with a blade, assaulted him, and stole money. The shopkeeper, who was in his twenties, was left shaken and terrified by the terrifying ordeal. This history underscores a pattern of violent and criminal behavior that continues to pose a threat to the community.
