CRISPIN KERSLAKE FROM NEWHAVEN SENTENCED TO 22 YEARS IN PRISON FOR MULTIPLE SEX OFFENCES AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS IN SUSSEX
In June 2014, Crispin Kerslake, 43, of Ash Walk, Newhaven, was sentenced to 22 years in prison after being convicted of a series of severe sexual offences involving young girls. Kerslake was found guilty of abusing girls under the age of 9 on five separate occasions between 2006 and 2009, making it one of the most serious cases of its kind in Sussex.Initially, Kerslake denied sexually assaulting two girls aged under 9, but a jury at Brighton Crown Court convicted him of the charges. Judge David Rennie stated that a single offence in the case alone deserved a 15-year prison sentence—the maximum allowed under current law. An additional two years were added for other sexual offences committed against the two girls.
Beyond these sexual offences, Kerslake was also convicted of seven further counts, including neglect, abandonment, and causing unnecessary suffering to the two girls and a third young girl. For these additional crimes, he received a further five-year prison term.
