CRAIG WISHART OF LOCHGELLY SENTENCED FOR CYBER AND PHYSICAL ABUSE IN COURT

A man from Lochgelly, Craig Wishart, has been convicted and sentenced for sending unwanted explicit Snapchat videos and messages to a woman through an anonymous account. The court was told that Wishart repeatedly contacted the woman, expressing a desire to 'worship' her and noting that she enjoyed the fact he had a 'c*** cage on.' He also made explicit references to sexual acts and sent videos of himself touching his genitals.

The victim, who is in her 40s, described feeling 'uneasy' and suspicious due to the persistent messages received over a year. Despite her efforts to block Wishart and delete various accounts, he continued to contact her via different social media platforms and attempted to reach her even after she stopped responding.

Court evidence included messages where Wishart said he wanted to 'meet her' and 'take the key to his cage,' among other explicit and obsessive communications. Alongside the cyber harassment, Wishart was also convicted of assaulting a police officer by punching him during police intervention at his home. He had previously pleaded guilty to this assault.

The judge sentenced Wishart to 50 hours of unpaid work, a one-year supervised community order, and ordered him to register as a sex offender for five years. The court also imposed restrictions on his social media use, reflecting the online behavior involved in the case. The judge noted that Wishart is employed at a fast food chain.

Following the sentencing, Wishart attempted to hide among bushes outside the courthouse to evade photographers. The case underscores his obsessive and abusive conduct, both online and physically.
