CRAIG THOMSON FROM BONNYRIGG EDINBURGH FACES SHOCK TRANSFER AFTER SEX OFFENDER CONVICTION

In a development that has stirred significant controversy, Craig Thomson, a 20-year-old footballer from Bonnyrigg, Edinburgh, is set to leave Heart of Midlothian FC this week amid ongoing concerns related to his criminal past. The defender, who was previously on loan at Lithuanian club FBK Kaunas, is expected to finalize a transfer to the Lithuanian team before the January transfer window closes.

Thomson’s departure comes despite the club’s decision not to dismiss him outright following his conviction last year for offenses involving underage girls. He was found guilty of preying on two girls aged 12 and 14, and as a result, was placed on the sex offenders’ register. The conviction has cast a long shadow over his career and has sparked outrage among fans and the wider community.

Details reveal that Thomson had attempted to establish contact with the victims via Facebook, requesting to be their friend. Disturbingly, he also sent one of the girls an obscene image, further highlighting the severity of his misconduct. Despite these revelations, Hearts chose to retain him, a decision that has been met with widespread criticism.

Vladimir Romanov, the owner of Hearts and the majority shareholder at FBK Kaunas, played a role in Thomson’s loan move to Lithuania. Romanov’s connection to Kaunas has been a point of interest, especially given the club’s willingness to take on Thomson despite his criminal record.

A source close to the club commented, “The vast majority of Hearts fans will be delighted to see the back of this creep. He was on loan until their season finished in November and apparently hated every minute of it. But they’re about the only club who’ll go near him.”

Recent reports indicate that Thomson returned to his home in Bonnyrigg last month, raising questions about his future and the ongoing scrutiny he faces from the public and authorities alike. The situation continues to evoke strong reactions from the community and highlights the complex issues surrounding rehabilitation and accountability for offenders involved in professional sports.
