CRAIG ORANGE SENTENCED IN NOTTINGHAM FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In November 2019, a man named Craig Orange from Nottingham was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of serious child sex offences.The case brought to light the devastating impact his actions had on two young girls, both of whom suffered emotional trauma as a result of his misconduct.
One of the victims, a young girl, was so deeply distressed that she resorted to pulling out her own hair and has been plagued by nightmares since the abuse.
The second girl also struggles with sleep, often experiencing 'bad dreams' that disrupt her nightly rest.
The court heard that the trauma inflicted by Orange’s actions has left both girls emotionally scarred, with one of them expressing that she is now 'wary of other men,' more easily upset, and more frustrated than she was before.
Craig Orange, aged 36, faced charges related to the sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.
Despite his denial of the allegations, a jury at Nottingham Crown Court found him guilty of the charges.
The court proceedings revealed the profound effect his crimes had on the victims and their families.
Both girls’ mothers testified that their lives had been significantly disrupted, and that their daughters had undergone noticeable changes in behavior and emotional well-being.
Prosecutor Stephen Kemp emphasized the gravity of the case, stating, 'One of the girls said, “I never thought I would have to deal with something like that.”’ The judge, Sally Hancox, addressed the court and the families involved, explaining that her sentencing was guided by national standards designed to ensure consistency across similar cases.
She acknowledged the emotional toll on the victims and their families, noting that no sentence could fully undo the harm caused but emphasizing the importance of justice.
As part of his sentence, Craig Orange was ordered to serve five years and six months in prison.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
The court also imposed restrictions, including a ban on any unsupervised contact with girls under the age of 16.
Orange appeared in court via video link and was heard muttering 'lies' when some of the prosecution’s evidence was presented.
He will serve half of his sentence in custody, with the remainder under supervision by probation officers.
The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of his offences and the need to protect vulnerable children from potential harm in the future.
