November 2019 Man jailed after being found guilty of child sex offences A child abuse victim was so badly upset that she pulled her hair out and was left suffering with nightmares. A second girl struggles to sleep and has “bad dreams” as a result of the actions of 36-year-old Craig Orange, a court heard. One said that she is now “wary of other men,” is easily upset and more frustrated than she used to be. Orange denied two charges of the sexual assault of a child under 13 but was found guilty by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court. Judge Sally Hancox sent him to prison for five years six months and put him on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely. Both the girls’ mothers said that their lives had been disrupted and that their daughters had changed. Stephen Kemp, prosecuting, told the court: “One said ‘I never thought I would have to deal with something like that.” The judge told relatives that her sentence was covered by national guidelines set to maintain consistency. “Those who listen to this case must appreciate from an emotional point-of-view no sentence the court can impose can remedy the wrong they perceive to have done,” she said. Orange was banned from any unsupervised contact with any girl under 16. He will serve half the sentence in custody and the rest under the supervision of probation officers. He appeared via video and muttered “lies” when some of the details were given by the prosecution.
