MAN ASSAULTS PARTNER IN ALCOHOL-FUELLED VIOLENCE
A man named Craig Moore, aged 33, who has a history of violence, attacked his partner violently while under the influence of alcohol. The incident involved Moore punching his partner up to 20 times and continuing to strike her as she was holding a young child. The attack was described as alcohol-fuelled and violent, causing severe injuries including a perforated eardrum, blood in her eye, and bruising around the eye socket. Moore was arrested and admitted to knocking over a cupboard and punching her with maximum force, stating he punched her to hurt her because he has large hands and she has a small face.Moore pleaded guilty to one count of actual bodily harm. The court heard that he has three previous convictions for common assault and one for being drunk and disorderly. The judge, Douglas Field, did not impose unpaid work but instead sentenced Moore to a nine-month jail term suspended for a year and imposed a curfew from 9 pm to 6 am for three months. The judge acknowledged this was a one-off attack brought on by alcohol and that Moore showed remorse, emphasizing that the attack was against a much smaller partner in the presence of children.
