CONOR MCNAMEE FROM CARDENDEN FACES COURT AGAIN OVER UNPAID DOMESTIC ABUSE FINE
Conor McNamee, a resident of Cardenden, found himself back in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after nearly two years had passed without him fulfilling his financial obligations stemming from a domestic abuse conviction. Despite being fined and ordered to pay compensation, McNamee, 45, of Woodend Place, had failed to make any payments, prompting the court to revisit his case. The court proceedings revealed that McNamee had prioritized settling other debts over his court-mandated payments. He appeared in court from custody and was subsequently sentenced to perform 80 hours of unpaid community service, replacing the original fine of £400. Additionally, he was ordered to pay the £150 compensation owed to his victim, with the warning that failure to do so would result in a jail sentence.
McNamee's sentencing took place on January 4 of the previous year. Sheriff Charles MacNair expressed clear disappointment upon learning that “not a penny piece has been paid in almost two years,” highlighting the defendant’s lack of compliance with the court’s orders.
The background of the case involves a violent incident that occurred on October 28, 2017, during which McNamee admitted to assaulting his then-partner. The court heard that he had pushed her repeatedly on her body, pushed her down stairs, seized her by the body, and threw her down the staircase. The assault culminated with McNamee striking her repeatedly with a piece of his damaged front door. The woman sustained multiple bruises on her forearm and leg as a result of the attack.
This case underscores the ongoing issues surrounding domestic violence and the importance of accountability and enforcement of court orders. Despite the passage of time, McNamee’s failure to pay the required compensation remains a significant concern for the authorities and the victim involved.
