CONNOR HISCOCKS PLYMOUTH PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN TOYS R US CAR PARK
In June 2017, a disturbing case unfolded in Plymouth involving the sexual assault of a young girl by Connor Hiscocks, a 22-year-old man whose actions have left a lasting impact on the community. The incident took place in the stairwell of a Toys R Us car park located in Western Approach, Plymouth, where Hiscocks was caught on CCTV carrying out a heinous attack on a girl who was under the age of 13.
According to court records, Hiscocks targeted the vulnerable child over a period of approximately ten months, from October 2015 to July 2016.
The Plymouth Crown Court heard that his abuse was not an isolated event but part of a pattern of persistent misconduct.
Hiscocks pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including causing a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Ian Lawrie addressed Hiscocks directly, describing the victim as “an extremely vulnerable young lady.” The judge emphasized the severity of the case, noting that one of the charges—referred to as a 'specimen' count—covered multiple incidents and demonstrated Hiscocks’ persistent behavior over the six-month period.
The CCTV footage from the stairwell of the Toys R Us car park provided concrete evidence of his criminal actions in a public space.
As Hiscocks stood in the dock, visibly trembling and fighting back tears, Judge Lawrie sentenced him to three years and four months in prison for one of the counts of sexual activity with a child.
Additionally, he received a one-year sentence for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and a two-year sentence for the second count of sexual activity with a child.
These sentences are to run concurrently, meaning Hiscocks will serve the combined term of three years and four months.
Furthermore, Judge Lawrie recommended that Hiscocks be subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and remain on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and the need for ongoing monitoring.
After the sentencing, Hiscocks was led away by court officers, and Judge Lawrie expressed his gratitude to the young victim for her bravery in coming forward and cooperating with police investigations.
The prosecutor, Janice Eagles, conveyed the judge’s appreciation for the victim’s courage, which was instrumental in securing justice in this troubling case.
