COLIN WRIGHT SHOCKS WORCESTER WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES INVOLVING HORSES AND DOGS
In April 2017, a disturbing case involving Colin Wright, a 75-year-old resident of Worcester, came to light when authorities uncovered a significant collection of indecent images of children on his computer. The investigation was triggered after Wright mistakenly sent an email containing one of these illicit images to an unintended recipient, who then reported the matter to the police.
Upon seizing various electronic devices from Wright's residence on Bath Road, law enforcement officials discovered a disturbing array of illegal content.
The images included 75 photographs classified as Category A, representing the most severe level of indecency, along with 60 images categorized as Category B, and a staggering 673 images falling under Category C.
These images depicted children in various states of sexual exploitation, highlighting the severity of the offenses.
In addition to the child exploitation images, police found an extreme indecent image involving animals, specifically horses and dogs, which Wright possessed.
Furthermore, he was found to have distributed at least one indecent photograph of a child, an act that further compounded his charges.
Prosecutor Kerry Lovegrove explained that the initial trigger for the investigation was the accidental email sent by Wright, which contained an indecent image.
The recipient of the email, upon viewing the content, contacted law enforcement authorities, leading to the subsequent search and seizure of evidence.
The offenses related to the possession of the images occurred on or before November 17, 2016, while the act of distributing an indecent image took place on November 11, 2016.
During the court proceedings at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 27, Wright admitted to the charges.
Given the gravity of the offenses, magistrates determined that the case was sufficiently serious to warrant a sentencing hearing at the Crown Court.
Wright, who previously resided in Inkberrow, was remanded on bail with the condition that he must not have any unsupervised contact with children.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, May 26, at Worcester Crown Court, where a more severe sentence is expected to be handed down.
